CRE Researchers Featured In Newcastle Herald For STG Conference
More than 100 experts attended the Selected Topics In Gastroenterology (STG) conference in Newcastle over February 4th & 5th, including CRE researchers and researchers from the Mayo Clinic.
The course was designed to update specialist physicians including gastroenterologists, surgeons, doctors in training, and other healthcare providers about cutting-edge approaches to multiple topics across gastroenterology and hepatology. A large number of expert from the world renowned Mayo Clinic in the USA, along with Mayo Clinic alumni in Australia, and other national and regional experts presented data on multiple topics including inflammatory bowel disease, oesophageal diseases, gastrointestinal surgery, and endoscopy, pancreatology and colorectal neoplasia.
Prof Nicholas Talley also spoke about treating indigestion with over-the-counter antihistamines alongside a controlled diet, a new area of study in relieving gut symptoms.
Dr Magnus Halland, recently returned from Mayo Clinic and now practising as a gastroenterologist explained that more than one-third of Australians are estimated to have chronic or relapsing gut symptoms, with around one in six experiencing bloating to troubling levels. This highly topical conference certainly shed some light onto gut health and disorders.
